Burra Bears is 21!
It’s been just over 21 years since we made our first 2 Burra Bears. I like to call it our accidental business as I didn’t plan to produce any more than the first two made as a gift for my sister Sharon’s first wedding anniversary, but here we are. Isn’t it funny how some things develop?
As part of our celebrations we are launching a totally new colourway, Robyn has been busy working her magic in the design of our ‘Scandi Burra Bear’ which we are sure will become a firm favourite.
So after 21 years I thought it was time to have a shiny new website. Not being technically minded I decided to ask local company NB Communication to do the job.
In the beginning I really didn’t have a clue what style of website I wanted so I did what I always do when I don’t have clue, I called my smart, talented, sister Rachael and asked for her help (she knows a lot of stuff!). Working in interior design (and having quite a lot of common sense) Rachael knows how things ‘should look’ and she knows me better than I know myself, so I knew she would come up with the style/ideas needed to make a fabulous unique site.
Rachael is ‘old school’ and I was delighted when she turned up at my house with her presentation for my site, she didn’t disappoint, with everything laid out on big sheets of thick white card, her version of cutting and pasting had been quite literally cut from magazines and pasted onto the card with scissors and glue.
Next stop was NB’s office with my pile of big white cards, Martin and David were quite rightly amused by this ‘traditional’ approach to web design, but were thoroughly onboard and they transformed my clever sister’s design into this gorgeous, totally unique website that you are now looking at. Thanks also has to go to Ava who has been patient enough to humour me in my many, many last minute alterations to the site!
